Spending thousands on Adwords, but can your customer find what they need on your site?

Looking at Google advertising revenue, I think no merchant with a website on this planet is not using some sort of pay per click campaign to drive their traffic. We all agree Google grew so much it is nearly suicidal if you are serious about ecommerce not to show on this engine.

In France more than 80% of Internet users are using Google to find info on anything and search engine in this country is the first medium to find info before you buy. Scary but true, we created a monster!

Now, all your customers are search savvy and what they can find on Google, they also want to find it on your site! How many of you have a search function embedded in their online store? And more important how many of you are optimising it? Come on raise your hand! I would be surprised if more than a 1/3 answer positively to the last question.

Why should you invest time in building and optimising your search functionnality?
- It is good for Customer Experience and customer satisfaction leads to retention and loyalty
- It gives you competitive advantage vs competition
- It is good for your Convertion Rate and sales in general
- It would improve branding
- By analysis your results it can also affect other marketing initiatives like paid search
- It would give you a good understanding on hit & miss on your site

So believe me it is worth to have acouple of techies and designers to get this straight away. We would be in August in a couple of weeks so do yourself a favour and start a site search project!
